Description

My first Orion I had initially planned with a longer focal length. My Esprit is occupied with sucking up the Rosette currently, so I had the RedCat a go.
The super wide field at 250mm FL+APS-C engulfs the entire Horsehead as well, nice!

I shot using the Optolong L-Pro. Orion sits pretty low and one of my street lamps ruins every IR/CUT (i.e. non-LP) target that low.
To reveal most of the dust I went for three minute exposures knowing it would blow out the core. To fix this, I returned with a 30s subs session.

To get the best of both worlds I used PixInsight's great HDRComposition and the preprocessed master lights.
I was able to reveal the core using HDRMT then.

I would have liked to push the data more, but at only 2.5 hours of effective integration time, it did reveal too much noise for my taste. This winter weather is really frustrating.

The image was drizzled 2x and resampled to 50% before uploading (to make the advanced plate solving less work).
